I am Back!

So I was going to give up on blogging because it just didn't seem like it was for me.  But I read some really great blogs that I just felt like I was missing out.  There has been so much that has changed in our lives that I just didn't seem to have time to do this either.

We MOVED!!!  So that is really exciting.  We are back to the town where I grew up and it's really great.  Only living a couple blocks from the school is a huge plus, no more hour bus rides.  The Kids are loving having other kids around to play with.  They even got to have a lemonade stand this summer.
My husband and my brother started selling grain seed together last fall and that kept us all busy this spring.  One HUGE plus for me is the building they sell seed out of is just a few blocks away.  My Mom and I took over part of the building so that we could have a big sewing/craft room.  I LOVE IT.  I can just leave my stuff that I am working on and the mess is not in my house.  I will have to show you some pics sometime.Harvest is in full swing here and school starts after labor day here.  Mya will be in 3rd grade and Kinsley will be starting headstart; she will be going three full days.  That means it will be just Jens and I home.  That is going to be a big adjustment but I am hoping that means more sewing time too.

Before I forget...jump over to A Lemon Squeezy Home.  She is having Purse Week Sept. 26th - 30th.

I entered her purse contest, so make sure you vote when it's time.  Don't worry I'll remind you.  Here is the purse I entered.

Time Flies

For being mid April, the weather has been really nice around here.  There are tractors going in the fields everywhere and I LOVE IT!  But one thing about being a stay at home mom and married to a farmer, when he gets busy, it seems like I get busier.

I have been trying to keep my Etsy shop updated.  I have almost everything listed that I have recently finished, it's more of a job then people think.  Finishing my bag or flower does not mean I am done.  :)  Then I have to take pictures of them, and crop them and fix the lighting on them with my free slow software.  After that is all finished, I then get to post them on to my Etsy site.  But the hardest part of the process for me is coming up with a description of the bag.  To me the pictures say it all.  You would think that I could just look at the bag and type what I see but I just have this block sometimes.  If I were smart, I would have that all ready before I post them but I am not that organized.  :)  If you know me, you would be nodding your head right now.
I think that should be another goal for me this year, to become more organized.  Now Mom if your reading this, don't fall out of your chair.  :)  If anyone has any good ideas for a completely unorganized person with a small house, 3 children, no closet space, to become organized, I will take all the help I can get!  Nothing hard to keep up though, otherwise I will end up with more stuff to add to my piles.  :)
I will keep you posted on the attempt on becoming organized, it will probably be a really slow process.
Until then, Enjoy Your Veske!

Lots of new things!

Today I became an new member of HandmadeMN which is a group of sellers from Etsy!  I'm hoping this is going to be a great resource for me and this wonderful adventure that I'm taking!  Take a look at the blog they have HandmadeMN Also if you are on Etsy and type HandmadeMN you should get items made by members of that team.
Then yesterday I found a new think on Facebook called Link Love were you can find all sorts of different Fan pages looking for other ones out their.  It's a way to spread out your fan base beyond friends and to make new friends.  It's great and addicting, looking at all the wonderful things everyone has for sale, it's hard not spending all my money!  :)
I am going to do another little give away on my Facebook fan page to fan #200.  I am going to give this flower pin that I had recently made.
Today I also finished a custom bag!  Here is a pic of that and the one previous to that I just finished.  The pictures are the greatest.  The ones I sell in my shop, I like to have better pics for but it had to be quick so I could get them sent out.
Thanks to my great support system!  You all know who you are and it's growing!
Enjoy your Veske!

Cookies! Yum!

These Have to be some of the best cookies and the easiest to make!

They are a favorite at our house.  I remember these cookies growing up, my Grandma would make them and us grandkids would sneak them by the handful.
I made them this afternoon and they really take not time whatsoever since you don't have to bake them.  I know when my family realizes they are in the jar, they are going to go nuts.  I make cookies all the time and just love watching everyone enjoy them.  The recipe was from one of "The Grandma's."  Vivian isn't really one of the kids grandmas but they call her that and really she could be, they have so many loving grandmas!
It's out of one of my favorite cookbooks that I got when we were married and it really is the best.  It's one of those great church cookbooks where you know all the recipes were made with love!
I hope you enjoy because I know we will!  Tomorrow I get to take the kids bowling for a birthday party, I know it's going to be a blast!  Have a great weekend
Enjoy your Veske!

So Many Projects I want to do

Right now I have 7 projects started and am working at different times.  A couple of them are custom bags for my shop that were ordered, dresses for my girls, a couple bags I am trying to figure patterns out for, there are a few kinks to work out, and a little quilt.  I just have to have my WIP (work in progress) pile sitting next to my sewing table.  There are just somethings that I can't just keep working on in a whole sitting.  Like trying to figure a pattern out for a bag, it seems like when I walk away for a couple days and come back to it, I have some better ideas.  But there are times I come back to them and wonder what I was thinking!  :)  Sometimes it happens more then I'd like to admit.
Here's a custom bag that I am working on right now and hopefully finish tonight or in the morning to get it sent off right away.  It's the "My Veske" style, the one with the grommets.
This is a couple squares of the little quilt I am working on.  It's alot of fun and the first time that I have ever did any type of ruffles.  I can't wait to wash this when it is finished because the edges of the flowers are not finished, so they will fray some.  I am such a tactile person, I just love the texture.
I am wanting to make a few of these as soon as my WIP pile shrinks.  They are little art folder/tote things.  Still trying to think of a name for them.  Any suggestions?  On one half there are slots for markers and crayons, and the other half there are pockets for paper, coloring books or what ever.  I just love them, and they are fun to do.
So that's what I am keeping busy with this week and probably next week too.  :)  Things don't always go as fast as I plan, but who wants to rush life by.
Enjoy Your Veske!

Can't wait for warm weather

Today I am just itching to start digging in my flowers! I can't wait until everything starts to green up! I'm even a bit excited to get to start mowing lawn again but that feeling will wear off pretty quickly I'm guessing. It's going to be interesting trying to get that done this years with the 2 little munchkins, at least I have Mya to help. She is so grown up for 7, I'm pretty lucky. They are all excited for summer too. Mya asked me the other day how long it will be until we can set up the pool and the slip 'n slide?!?! Then poor Kinsley went to go find a towel because she wanted to swim now! I talked her into taking a bath instead. :)

Here is some fun summery fabrics to look at. Can't want to start making bags from them!

Flowers!

As women we all think that we need to accessorize our looks before we leave the house. Well, I am learning how to make flowers to accessorize an accessory. :)

I already know how to make a couple different kinds of flowers, but I can never learn too much! I was supposed to show a sewing group how to make a flower before I had gotten sick, but as soon as things are back to normal, I will be doing it. So I think I am going to make the project into a tutorial to put here on my blog. That would be another first for me. :)

Making purses has started a bunch of first for me already this year, which was one of my new years "goals" not resolutions. I wanted to try new things and learn new things too. How exciting could life be if we stopped learning?
If you have any tips on how to make a tutorial, let me know because I haven't a clue!

Enjoy Your Veske!
